A recent study has confirmed that, based on the Montreal Protocol from 1987, the Earth`s ozone layer is repairing itself. The Protocol has been signed by 180 countries, which agreed to phase out harmful chemicals, like chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).

The Earth`s ozone layer represents a stratosphere area that prevents ultraviolet radiation hit the Earth`s surface by absorbing it.

Antara Banerjee, an author of the study, explained that the traces of chemicals harmful to the Earth`s ozone layer have begun to decline since 2000, which proves the effectiveness of the protocol.

However, the issue of global warming should not be forgotten, because the emission of CO2 gasses does not have a direct impact on the ozone layer, but leads to global warming.

Nowadays, due to the spread of Covid-19, the levels of nitrogen dioxide are slightly reduced.
