You have probably heard that a high level of acidity in the body can lead to cancer development. However, do you know how to recognize the signs of acidity and alkalize your body?
The levels of pH indicate the balance of acidity and alkalinity in the body. All body parts require different environments in order to function properly. For instance, the stomach requires more acidic environment for the digestive processes, whereas the immune system requires more alkaline environment.
Diseases often occur in acidic environment, so it is of utter importance to maintain the body alkaline. Following a diet rich in dark leafy greens, fresh air, spring water, raw almonds, grapefruits, lemons can help you to reduce the levels of acidity.
Our body functions properly when the pH values range from 7.0 – 7.4 even though other ranges are involved, too. For instance, the pharynx, mouth and esophagus are acidic with 6.8 pH value, the stomach is too acidic with a pH of 1.3, the pH of the small intestine is similar to that of the body fluids, whereas the pH value in the colon goes from 5.5 – 7.
There are three phases of acidity. The first phase of acidity includes a slightly high level of acidity. Symptoms in this phase can be subtle, almost unnoticeable. They may include low sex drive, a feeling of cold, smelling urine, hyperactivity, muscle and joint pain, heartburn and head congestion. Other symptoms that have been reported include acne, fatigue, diarrhea, panics, headache and constipation.
If the normalization of acidity does not begin, it can intensify to phase two. Some of the most common symptoms of this phase include endometriosis, colds, sores, hives, headaches, depression, migraines, eczema, psoriasis, asthma, bronchitis, cystitis, memory loss and insomnia.
The final phase of acidosis is the most harmful one. In this phase, the symptoms have adverse effects on the function in the body. Some of the most common symptoms include headache, confusion, jaundice, hypertension, fatigue, rapid heart beating, sleepiness, breathing difficulties. Increased levels of acidity in the body lead to a transfer of minerals from the organs and bones in order to regulate this acidity. Therefore, due to this, minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium can be depleted from the body. In addition, this phase increases the risk of experiencing chronic disease, including multiple sclerosis, tuberculosis, cancer, Chron’s disease, etc.
It is important to be aware of the signs of high acidity, because it is considered that high acidity contributes to cancer development. In addition, if there is a pH imbalance in the body, you may experience digestive issues, tiredness and other health ailments. Namely, high levels of cholesterol and insulin, blood pressure, weak immune system and body weight can be affected by the pH fluctuations.
In general, consuming highly acidic foods is the root cause of improper acid levels in the body. Namely, fast food and processed food are considered to lead high levels of acidity. Other foods that affect the pH values of the body include seafood, pasta, cream, cheese, milk and other dairy products. In addition, some medication, especially synthetics and antibiotics, can increase the acidity levels in the body.
You can easily test you pH values. All you need is litmus strips that you can buy at a health food store or pharmacy. You should test your saliva and urine each morning and track the values, so that you can compare them. The saliva should range from 7 – 7.4 throughout the day, whereas the urine should be between 6 – 6.5.
In some cases, you can alkalize your body by following some dietary and lifestyle changes, whereas in other you will need to consult a specialist for guidance and support. You can use rubidium, germanium, cesium chloride and other alkalizing minerals for body alkalization. However, it is better to opt for fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds. The pH level of the food does not indicate the effect it will cause on the body.
